Happy New Year everyone! I hope your new year is more blessed then the year before. For me I have to laugh because it’s only day two and I’m already behind. But so is life and all you can do is keep moving forward. I know you have all heard of the how the cobbler’s kids never had shoes well for me that was the story of this year. (What no Christmas shoot?) I’d been visioning a shoot for my family for about 2 years, but never fully found the time to put it all together. With everyone’s crazy schedule and what it would take to pull it off I decided to go another route. I have a ton of photos in my house of my family but I wanted something a little different to hang on the wall this year. So, I merged my envisioned shoot with the artistic drawing and painting talents of my friend Pamela Goodman to create the master piece below. WE are so in love with it and I love how it captures all of our personalities. My husband Eric, the strong man, supporting and holding us all together. Our youngest Aidan and his death defying gymnastic tricks and smiley little face. Our oldest Cole who keeps us in stitches with his clowning around and his love for our pets. Charlie our golden doodle the newest addition to our family this year who loves to play chase. Cheddar our faithful feline friend who isn’t going to do anything he doesn’t want to. And of course me the ringleader of the crazy family and doing my best to juggle all of our lives together. Well, I mentioned I try my best to get keep it all together but this year I was short quite a few Christmas/New Year’s Card. So, I apologize if you didn’t get one. I would love to share our life with you, and hope you follow along to find out more about Cirque du Johnson’s best show on earth. I know there will be many adventures to share. Happy New Year!
It’s hard to believe Ally is ONE! I had the joy of photographing her a few weeks after she was born and I can’t believe it was already a year ago. We had so much fun heading out to the Pumpkin Patch at Uesugi Farms. I always enjoy the chance to spend time with the Borellos and to see how their family changes and grows. Here’s just a few pictures from their session! Remember to leave them some love so they know you stopped by.
These two families are so dear to my heart. Believe it or not I have seen them transform from middle school students to marriage to now parents themselves. I am so blessed to have them in my life and so happy that I get to help document their lives. Plus my favorite thing is they get me and how I work. I loved the wardrobe they showed up with. I had to laugh when they said we just brought our most colorful and textured stuff. You should of seen the room as we laid out the possible clothing combos. It was like a closet exploded. The best part was when I told the dad’s hey grab that couch and put in the back of the expedition. They didn’t even question it and we were off for the adventure.
We had about 90 minutes to photograph both families with mini sessions, some kid highlights, a cousin picture, and then an original 4 parent photo. We were cooking as we tried to keep all the kiddos engaged and not begging to go home and go swimming. I so loooooove this shoot not just because of my subjects but the images warm my heart. I loved everything about it.
This entire family is involved with music. From instruments to voice they do it all. What I love about the session is that even close in age the two families are slightly in different stage. One still has a baby which limits them, while the other family has two kids ready for adventure and needs much more entertainment. But their parents live up to the expectations. I’m sure if you were to have walked by while we were doing this session you would of stopped and stared. I had a hard time focusing because of the laughter as all the adults would belt out Disney tunes for smiles or to get the kiddos to sing along. I think some of my favorites are the ones with the vintage cameras especially since each of the kids kept looking at the back of it to see themselves. They would ask “where am I?”
It was a gorgeous day for a wedding at Villa Montalvo. Who would of guessed it would be such a heat wave in October? Liz and Jason are quite the animated couple. Both of them just full of life, laughter, and sarcasm – I loved it! Nothing could of ruined their day and their excitement was contagious. I mean look at the photo of Jason looking at Liz for the first time. Can’t you just hear him saying wowsa! What bride wouldn’t want a look like this from her groom and the day just kept getting better. The shades of purple were amazing and looked fabulous with the villa as their background. I thought the martini olive candles they passed out for favors were adorable and so very them. They had a great list of vendors and some of my favorite people to work with Nicole Lisanne Designs, Jen’s Cakes, Asiel Designs, Armando from Get Your Do Up, Photoworks Interactive, Kathleen Kirkpatrick, Catered Too and the list kept going. In fact, my good friend and photographer Mike Steelman helped me photograph the event making my day even more enjoyable. To see more of their day click on Villa Montalvo wedding. Enjoy and don’t forget to leave them some love below so that they know you’ve visited. Wishing the two of them many more years of laughter and fun.
Whether you call her Guiliana, Gigi, Gia, or baby girl, the fact is you have to call her adorable. I had such a great time getting to know little Miss Gia for her one year old photo. I’ve had the opportunity to photograph her mommy and daddy over the years and had the privilege of meeting her for her 3 month photo session. She has grown so much in size and personality. I loved her personalized outfit that her mommy found on etsy.com and that she knew how to use it. We had a great hour or so in downtown San Jose and the children’s museum made for the perfect backdrop. I’m not sure if I laughed more or if I photographed more but she was a delight! Plus, she was the first one to help us with our operation smile campaign. Her smile is helping another child recieve a smile. To find out more on how you can help a child smile click here.

And of course a couple with her wonderful parents. I love these guys two of the nicest people you’ll ever meet.
