I Gave Birth to a Monkey | Our little gymnist

This weekend my youngest son and I are heading out to Las Vegas!  This weekend he’s going to be competing in a competition in Las Vegas with kids from all over the country.  Besides this being the biggest competition he has participated in, we are so excited that our nephew from Colorado will also be competing this evening in the level 10′s.  This will be the first time the two cousins have been at a meet together and we are more then thrilled to watch the big cousin do his things.  So we would love for any prayers and good wishes for the two of them!  Below are some of the photos of Aidan from meets this year.  I wasn’t kidding when I said he’s a monkey.  The things this kid does makes a mother shutter in fear and stand in awe.  He just loves gymnastics and he works so hard.  He’s at the gym 12 hours a week and is carrying all A’s at school.  He’s a rockstar and we are so blessed that he is ours.  If you would love to leave Aidan some love I know he would get a kick out of it.

Mackinac Island Alphabet

It is hard to believe that the holidays are upon us. I’m still trying to blog a little bit about our adventures we had this summer.  We had a fantastic road trip and so much fun with family and friends that I’m anxious to share it with you.  One of the things we did was go to Mackinac Island in Michigan.  Some of you may of heard of it.  The movie with Christopher Reeve “Somewhere in Time” made it famous besides it fudge.  To have a little fun we had the kids help us find the alphabet made out of things on the island.  This is what they came up with.  So excited to give it to them for Christmas. Thanks Pamela Francisco for helping get it together.

Children’s Photography Mini Session| Los Gatos

Here is the newest of our mini shoots.  This family had just moved in to a new house in Los Gatos and wanted their kids photographed in their yard and garden.  It was a beautiful setting for photographs as we played with bubbles, licked lollipops, talked about Garfield the cat, and which Disney princess was her favorite.  I loved that the princess I photographed for this portrait session wore turquoise tights and pink monkey tennis shoes.  Every time I look at them it makes me smile.

Senior High School Photo Session | Taylor in Colorado

We had an amazing summer vacation this year and I haven’t even come close to blogging about it or even being able to go through what I photographed along the way except for this.  Our last stop this summer was to visit my husband’s family in Colorado.  We don’t get to see them as much as we like but we always have a great time.  Our nephew Taylor will be graduating this year and I was happy that I had the chance to photograph him.  We had a great time as we explored the different landscapes of Colorado . But the last pictures were taken at the family cattle ranch which  just went up for sale.  The Great Aunt who owned the property passed away a couple of weeks before we arrived and this was our last chance to visit the land. (More to come on that part of the trip it was an amazing day).  So, I couldn’t think of a better place to do at least one of Taylor’s photos.  What was great is it was a place Taylor’s Grandpa and dad and his uncle (my hubby) have great memories of.  I’m so glad I was able to create a keepsake of another generation at “the farm”.

Family and Children Photography Session| Modern and Vintage merge for some fun!

These two families are so dear to my heart.  Believe it or not I have seen them transform from middle school students to marriage to now parents themselves.  I am so blessed to have them in my life and so happy that I  get to help document their lives.  Plus my favorite thing is they get me and how I work.  I loved the wardrobe they showed up with.  I had to laugh when they said we just brought our most colorful and textured stuff.  You should of seen the room as we laid out the possible clothing combos.  It was like a closet exploded.  The best part was when I told the dad’s hey grab that couch and put in the back of the expedition.  They didn’t even question it and we were off for the adventure.

We had about 90 minutes to photograph both families with mini sessions, some kid highlights, a cousin picture, and then an original 4 parent photo.  We were cooking as we tried to keep all the kiddos engaged and not begging to go home and go swimming.  I so loooooove this shoot not just because of my subjects but the images warm my heart.  I loved everything about it.

This entire family is involved with music.  From instruments to voice they do it all.  What I love about the session is that even close in age the two families are slightly in different stage.  One still has a baby which limits them, while the other family has two kids ready for adventure and needs much more entertainment.  But their parents live up to the expectations.  I’m sure if you were to have walked by while we were doing this session you would of stopped and stared.  I had a hard time focusing because of the laughter as all the adults would belt out Disney tunes for smiles or to get the kiddos to sing along.  I think some of my favorites are the ones with the vintage cameras especially since each of the kids kept looking at the back of it to see themselves.  They would ask “where am I?”
