Lauren and Cory’s wedding at the St. Joseph Cathedral in San Jose

Originally, Lauren and Cory wanted to stay traditional and not see each other before the ceremony.  After talking with them about the schedule for the day we decided that to capture the images they wanted they would need to see each other before the ceremony.  So we talked about having the big reveal and then taking pictures ahead of the ceremony. In my experience this usually always makes the day run smoother and less stressful and they agreed.  What I found out later and just loved was that they met and  had waffles together for breakfast and loved the time together. I wish I could of said I had waffles with my hubby on my wedding day.  It just sounded like the perfect way to start off a great day.

That is exactly what Lauren and Cory had,  a great day.  They exchanged vows at St. Joseph’s Cathedral in downtown San Jose.  This church is always a beautiful setting.  There wedding party was large and so we had some fun with them ahead of time taking photos out in the street and on the stairs at the front of the church.  It was really a fun crowd.

After the ceremony they headed down to the historical St. Claire to celebrate.  Hilary Mercante, the wedding coordinator of the St. Claire, and the staff always do a fantastic job.  Plus, the food is always excellent.  The ballroom was done elegantly in black and white with cascades of white flower arrangements by Joanna Leal of Floral Sense. The wedding cake was created by Icing on the Cake and it  had an original little cake topper made by the grooms mother.  This bride and groom was made from clothes pins.  I love personal little touches and the fact that his mom made it.  What did you love about their wedding?

Baby photography session with Serene and her parents in Sausalito

I love when I have a chance to go up to Sausalito.  The weather is almost always perfect and the views are amazing. There is something about seeing the skyline of San Francisco across the bay.  It is simply breathtaking.   One of the reasons I love visiting the town is one of my favorite jewelers is up there Sam from Sausalito Jewelry.  So, when Sam called me to come and photograph the newest addition to their family how could I pass it up?

I had a great afternoon getting to know Serene and her parents.  Serene was a doll and she did  well being the center of attention.    When photographing newborns I love the interaction between them and the parent.  Even if you only see a small portion of mom and dad.  There is just something special when you see a baby in her daddy’s arms or her tiny little finger wrapped around her mommy’s finger, or lips just tenderly touching her forehead.  On photos like this you can just feel the wonder and amazement a baby adds to your life.  Plus, it just reminds you how precious, innocent, and small they are when they come in to this world.  How can you not just want to squeeze her?
